In early February 2026, the Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada organized the “Agro Ekonomi Journal Workshop: Enhancing International Partnerships (Editors and Reviewers)” as part of its commitment to strengthening journal governance and expanding global academic networks.

The workshop was held on Thursday, February 5, 2026, from 09:00 to 13:15 WIB at the Faculty of Agriculture. The event featured M. Prof. Dr. Jangkung Handoyo Mulyo, M.Ec. was officially inaugurated as a Professor at Universitas Gadjah Mada in the field of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Management on Tuesday, 10 February 2026. The inauguration ceremony took place from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. WIB at the UGM Senate Hall and was conducted in a solemn and dignified manner.

The inauguration proceedings commenced with an opening by the Chair of the Board of Professors of Universitas Gadjah Mada, followed by the reading of the Excerpt from the Decree of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, which served as the legal basis for the appointment. This ceremony marked the highest academic recognition of Prof. Jangkung’s dedication and scholarly contributions to the development of agricultural economics and agribusiness. read more

The Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics (Sosek), Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada, participated in the Undergraduate Graduation Ceremony for the First Period of the 2025/2026 Academic Year held on Wednesday, 26 November 2025. This event served as an important milestone for undergraduate graduates as a form of recognition for their academic achievements throughout their study journey.

The graduation ceremony was conducted in two sessions. The first session took place at Grha Sabha Pramana (GSP) UGM, attended by undergraduate graduates from various faculties across the university. The second session was held at the Harjono Danoesastro Auditorium, Faculty of Agriculture UGM, as an internal agenda involving faculty leaders, lecturers, administrative staff, and the families of the graduates. The Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics (Sosek), Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada, held a send-off ceremony for undergraduate prospective graduates on Friday, 25 July 2025, at the Magister Management Agribusiness (MMA) Seminar Room. This event marked an important moment for 34 students who will soon participate in the November graduation ceremony, serving as a form of appreciation for their academic journey during their studies in the Department.

The event began with the announcement of the prospective graduates’ names, who were called one by one to enter the room. A warm and celebratory atmosphere filled the venue as students received congratulations and encouragement from the academic community in attendance. After all prospective graduates were seated, the event continued with remarks from Prof. Jangkung Handoyo Mulyo, M.Ec., Head of the Department. In his address, he expressed his appreciation for the students’ hard work and conveyed his hopes that Sosek graduates will continue to contribute meaningfully to the development of Indonesian agriculture across various professional pathways. read more

Diah Fitria Widhinigsih, a lecturer from the Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), has once again brought international pride to the university. She was honored with the Amabel Fulton APEN Award for Excellence in Extension in the Young Professional (under 35) category at the Australasia-Pacific Extension Network (APEN) International Conference, held on October 14–16, 2025, in Brisbane, Australia.

This prestigious award recognizes Fitria’s dedication to agricultural extension since 2018. As both an academic and practitioner, she has been actively involved in various extension activities through the Agricultural Extension and Communication Study Program at UGM and is also the founder of Rumah Ilmu Bercak Pustaka, a community-based reading and learning center (TBM) in Sleman, Yogyakarta. read more

Yogyakarta, November 10, 2025 – The Agricultural Extension and Communication Study Program (PKP), Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), welcomed a benchmarking visit from the Agricultural Extension Study Program of Andalas University (Unand). The visit aimed to deepen understanding and enhance the quality of education in agricultural extension by learning from the best practices implemented by PKP UGM.

During the meeting, both institutions discussed several key topics related to academic development, including the design of Graduate Learning Outcomes (CPL) implemented by PKP UGM to prepare graduates who are adaptive and competent in facing professional challenges. UGM also shared the results of its teacher study, which focuses on improving teaching quality and pedagogy through reflective academic practices. read more

The Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics (Sosek), Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada, conducted the Field Practicum of Agricultural Socio-Economic Assessment (PSEP) from 31 October to 3 November 2025. Over four days, students were deployed directly to rural communities to examine the socioeconomic conditions of farming households, applying the knowledge they have learned in the classroom.

Prior to field deployment, students completed nine preparatory sessions covering essential concepts, observation techniques, and interview methods. This preparation ensured that participants were equipped with the necessary skills to carry out the practicum effectively. The PSEP practicum serves as a comprehensive learning platform that bridges theoretical frameworks with real-world application, providing students with critical tools to analyze rural socioeconomic dynamics in a structured and insightful manner. read more

The visit was part of a benchmarking activity focusing on quality assurance systems, particularly within two study programs under the Department—Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness (EPA) and Agricultural Extension and Communication (PKP).

The Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics (Sosek), Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada, held a “Workshop on Curriculum Evaluation and Quality Assurance” on October 16–17, 2025, at Hotel Lafayette, Yogyakarta. The event was attended by all lecturers and educational staff of the department as part of a continuous effort to enhance the quality of teaching, strengthen the internal quality assurance system, and develop human resource capacity.

The workshop aimed to comprehensively evaluate the curriculum and learning processes that have been implemented over the past academic year. Through this activity, lecturers discussed and reviewed the relevance of teaching materials, the effectiveness of learning methods, and various challenges encountered during teaching activities. The outcomes of this evaluation are expected to serve as a foundation for curriculum improvement, ensuring that it remains adaptive to the latest developments in science, technology, and the needs of students in the field of agricultural socio-economics. read more

This event marked a significant milestone as a moment of appreciation and celebration for students who have successfully completed their master’s studies at UGM.

The ceremony took place in two venues. The main graduation procession of Universitas Gadjah Mada was held at Grha Sabha Pramana (GSP) from 07.00 to 12.00 WIB, attended by graduates from various faculties across UGM. The event then continued at the Faculty of Agriculture, held at the Hardjono Danoesastro Auditorium from 13.00 to 15.00 WIB, where diplomas and certificates were formally presented to the postgraduate graduates. read more
