The Agricultural Extension and Communication Study Program (Penyuluhan dan Komunikasi Pertanian/PKP), Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), in collaboration with Wageningen University & Research (WUR), organized the Mini Seminar: Climate Change and Farmers’ Adaptation on Tuesday, August 18, 2026. Held at the Venture Room, 6th Floor, AGLC Building, the seminar was attended by participants both in person and online.

The mini seminar served as a forum for exchanging perspectives and research insights on climate change and farmers’ adaptation. Conducted in English, the event brought together academics from the Faculty of Agriculture UGM and WUR to discuss climate change, its impacts on the agricultural sector, and various forms of adaptation in response to changing environmental conditions. read more

Another remarkable achievement has been accomplished by a student from the Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada. Lunnetta Anis Prasmana, a 2024 student of the Undergraduate Program in Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness (EPA), won a gold medal at the International Gelora Taekwondo Indonesia Championship 2 2026, held at the Sports Hall of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta from 19 to 21 June 2026.

The international championship brought together more than 3,000 taekwondo athletes from 21 provinces across Indonesia and four other countries. With thousands of participants, the event became one of the largest taekwondo championships in the region, featuring highly competitive performances from athletes representing various regions and countries. read more

A student of the Master of Agricultural Economics (MEP), Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Mahdaviqia Dharmawan, has brought pride to Indonesia after being selected as one of the country’s delegates for the ASEAN Youth United for Road Safety 2026 (AYU-RS 2026), held in Bangkok, Thailand, from 1–5 July 2026.

AYU-RS 2026 is an international youth forum organized by the Ministry of Social Welfare and Human Development, The Kingdom of Thailand. Indonesia’s delegates were selected through a national selection process conducted by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia, which appointed three outstanding young representatives to participate in the forum. The event brought together participants from ASEAN+ countries, including all Southeast Asian nations as well as Japan, Australia, India, and China. read more

The Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), has once again demonstrated its commitment to developing high-quality human resources through the Undergraduate–Master’s Accelerated Program (Fast Track) for the Odd Semester of Academic Year 2026/2027. This program provides outstanding undergraduate students with the opportunity to pursue a master’s degree while completing their bachelor’s studies, enabling them to finish both degrees within a shorter period.

In this year’s selection, 45 outstanding students from various study programs within the Faculty of Agriculture were successfully admitted to the Fast Track Program. As recognition of their academic excellence, all admitted students were awarded a full scholarship in the form of a tuition fee waiver for their first two semesters of master’s study. read more

The Master of Agribusiness Management (MMA) Study Program, Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), has officially introduced the Agribusiness Digital Strategy study concentration. This new concentration is designed for students who wish to develop expertise in the digital transformation of the agribusiness sector.

The establishment of this study concentration reflects the program’s commitment to addressing the growing demand for professionals capable of integrating digital technologies into agribusiness management. Through this concentration, students will gain knowledge of emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Big Data, and the Internet of Things (IoT), and learn how these technologies can be applied to support decision-making, business development, as well as the marketing and export of agribusiness products. read more

The Master of Agribusiness Management (MMA) Program, Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), organized an academic field study to Malaysia from 6–9 July 2026. The program involved 27 students from MMA Cohorts 51 and 52, accompanied by Prof. Dr. Jangkung Handoyo Mulyo, M.Ec. and Dr. Ir. Lestari Rahayu Waluyati, M.P., as part of an experiential learning initiative designed to broaden students’ academic knowledge and expose them to international best practices in the agribusiness sector. read more

The Agricultural Extension and Communication Study Program (PKP), Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada, proudly celebrates the achievements of two of its students at the 2026 Yogyakarta Provincial Student Arts Week (PEKSIMIPROV DIY). Held from 18 June to 2 July 2026, the competition brought together university students from across the Special Region of Yogyakarta to showcase their talents in various artistic disciplines.

Muhammad Al Hazmi Kynan Sutanto earned Third Place in the Vocal Group Competition. This category brought together vocal group representatives from universities throughout Yogyakarta, highlighting participants’ musicality, teamwork, and artistic performance. read more

The Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), hosted a Public Consultation Seminar on the Draft Law (Rancangan Undang-Undang/RUU) concerning the Third Amendment to Law No. 19 of 2013 on Farmers’ Protection and Empowerment, organized by Commission II of the Regional Representative Council (DPD RI) on Tuesday 23 June 2026. In this event, academics from the Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics (Sosek) UGM contributed through academic manuscript development and the provision of substantive inputs to the draft bill under preparation. read more

Students of the Master of Agricultural Economics (MEP) Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada, particularly the National Sugar Synergy (SGN) collaborative class, participated in a Widyakarya program in Thailand in April 2026. The program was designed to broaden students’ perspectives on the transformation of the sugarcane value chain and the integrated sugar industry from upstream to downstream within a global context.

During the program, students visited several strategic institutions in Thailand, including the Thailand Sugarcane Breeding Center (TSBC), the Sugarcane and Sugar Industry Promotion Center, Thai Sugar Mills Corporation, and the New Krung Thai Sugar Mill and Ethanol Plant. Through these visits, students gained firsthand experience in understanding the development of a modern sugar industry supported by technological integration, research, supply chain strengthening, and product diversification. read more

Another proud achievement has been accomplished by a student from the Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada. Alexandros Candra Febrian, a student of the Agricultural Extension and Communication Study Program (PKP), was named the best graduate of the Faculty of Agriculture during the Undergraduate Graduation Ceremony for Period III of the 2025/2026 Academic Year held on Wednesday, May 21, 2026.

Alexandros achieved an impressive Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.98, reflecting his dedication, consistency, and hard work throughout his academic journey at the Faculty of Agriculture UGM. In addition to his outstanding academic performance, Alexandros is also recognized as a fast-track student who pursued an accelerated academic pathway as part of the university’s academic development program. read more
