The participation of students from the Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics (Sosek), Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada in international programs reflects the department’s strong commitment to advancing the internationalization of higher education. One of its students, Hosana Adel Ivory from the Agribusiness and Agricultural Economics Study Program (class of 2022), was selected to join the AIMS Fall 2025 student exchange program at Universitas Ibaraki, Japan.

The program was conducted during the odd semester of the 2025 academic year, from September 2025 to January 2026, offering both academic and cultural enrichment. During the program, Hosana, along with other students from the Faculty of Agriculture UGM (cohorts 2022 and 2023), participated in various courses delivered by lecturers at Ibaraki University. In addition, they gained broader academic perspectives through guest lectures conducted by faculty members from Universitas Tsukuba. Panca Rahadi, S.P., a graduate student from the Master of Agricultural Economics (MEP) Program at the Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), was selected to participate in the Erasmus+ Student Mobility Programme, a collaborative initiative between UGM and Aarhus University, Denmark, funded by the European Commission. The Merdeka Belajar Kampus Berdampak (MBKB) Village Project Program was implemented in Playen District, Gunung Kidul Regency, carrying the theme “Initiation of the Digital Auction Market” as a form of support for the digitalization of the agricultural sector and local trade. The program took place from September 15 to October 20, 2025, and was carried out in collaboration with the Amrih Murakapi and Jaka Berek farmer groups. Through this initiative, students aimed to introduce a digital-based auction system that is transparent, efficient, and easily accessible to rural communities, particularly small business owners and farmers. read more

Yogyakarta, 26/03/2025 – Another proud achievement has been made by a student of the Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics, Faculty of Agriculture, UGM. Regina Claudia Setiawan, a student from the Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Study Program, class of 2022, has been awarded the title of Outstanding Student of the Faculty of Agriculture UGM 2025 for her dedication and consistency in academics, research, and community service.

Originally from Surabaya, Regina shared that her biggest motivation in excelling was to make a meaningful impact and make her parents proud. Since the beginning of her studies at UGM, she had set her sights on the Outstanding Student (Mapres) competition as a goal she wanted to achieve. “This competition integrates writing and presentation skills while testing my understanding of the knowledge I have gained and its real-world applications. Additionally, it serves as recognition for my three years of achievements in competitions, community service, publications, and entrepreneurship,” said Regina. read more

This prestigious event took place at Universitas Brawijaya from September 28 to 29, 2024, attracting participants from around the world.

Rafi Gunadi’s team earned this accolade through their innovative research titled “Scoby-Do Organic Media Engineering: Symbiotic Culture of Bacteria and Yeast in Optimizing Bioplastic Production with Batch Fermentation”. The research focuses on developing bioplastics through synthetic biology by utilizing the symbiosis between bacteria and yeast to optimize bioplastic production efficiently via batch fermentation. read more
