Organic waste management remains a significant challenge in Indonesia, requiring innovative and collaborative solutions. One promising approach is maggot cultivation, which offers an efficient and environmentally friendly method for processing organic waste. In response to this issue, two alumni from the Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics (Sosek), Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada—majoring in Agricultural Extension and Communication—are actively involved in a research project examining stakeholder perceptions of maggot cultivation practices.

In early February 2026, the Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada organized the “Agro Ekonomi Journal Workshop: Enhancing International Partnerships (Editors and Reviewers)” as part of its commitment to strengthening journal governance and expanding global academic networks.
The workshop was held on Thursday, February 5, 2026, from 09:00 to 13:15 WIB at the Faculty of Agriculture. The event featured M. Zudhy Irawan, Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of the Civil Engineering Forum (JCEF), as the keynote speaker. He shared insights and best practices in managing reputable academic journals.
Prof. Dr. Jangkung Handoyo Mulyo, M.Ec. was officially inaugurated as a Professor at Universitas Gadjah Mada in the field of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Management on Tuesday, 10 February 2026. The inauguration ceremony took place from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. WIB at the UGM Senate Hall and was conducted in a solemn and dignified manner.
The inauguration proceedings commenced with an opening by the Chair of the Board of Professors of Universitas Gadjah Mada, followed by the reading of the Excerpt from the Decree of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, which served as the legal basis for the appointment. This ceremony marked the highest academic recognition of Prof. Jangkung’s dedication and scholarly contributions to the development of agricultural economics and agribusiness.
