Department of Agricultural Socioeconomics, Faculty of Agriculture, Gadjah Mada University, held a Coordination Meeting for Lecture Preparation for the Even Semester 2023/2024 for the Agricultural Science Doctoral Study Program with a specialization in Doctor of Agricultural Economics (DEP) and Doctor of Agribusiness Management (DMA). This activity will occur on Monday, January 29, 2024, at 09.00 in MMA Room 202.

This meeting was held behind closed doors and attended by lecturers from the DEP and DMA specialization programs and educational staff from the Department of Agricultural Socioeconomics UGM. Head of the UGM Department of Agricultural Socioeconomics, Mr. Dr. Jangkung Handoyo Mulyo, M.Ec., chaired the meeting to discuss preparations for even semester lectures and ensure the smooth running of teaching and learning activities in the two doctoral programs. read more

On January 24, 2024, the Faculty of Agriculture, Gadjah Mada University, proudly held the Period II Postgraduate Program Graduation for the 2023/2024 academic year. This activity occurred at the Hardjono Danoesastro Auditorium, Faculty of Agriculture, UGM. A total of 24 graduates completed their education from six postgraduate programs offered by the Faculty of Agriculture. This achievement shows extraordinary dedication and hard work in pursuing knowledge in agriculture.

In this series of graduations, the Department of Agricultural Social Economics (Dept Sosek UGM) also graduated three graduates from the Agricultural Science Doctoral program, two graduates from the Agricultural Economics Masters Program, and six graduates from the Agribusiness Management Masters Program. On Friday, November 24, 2023, the Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Study Program, Department of Agricultural Socioeconomics, Faculty of Agriculture, Gadjah Mada University held a guest lecture activity, which was the result of collaboration between the study program and the Ministry of Cooperatives and Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs). The activity occurred at the Harjono Danoesastro Auditorium, Faculty of Agriculture UGM, and became an important discussion area about government policies supporting food security in Indonesia. read more

On Tuesday, November 21, 2023, Gadjah Mada University held an inauguration event for Prof. Subejo, S.P., M.Sc., Ph.D., as an Agricultural Extension and Communication Professor. This event occurred at the Gadjah Mada University Senate Hall and was led directly by the Rector of Gadjah Mada University, Prof. Dr. Ova Emilia, M.Med. Ed., Sp.OG (K), Ph.D.

This inauguration event was a historic moment. Prof. Subejo delivered an inauguration speech titled “Coexistence of Contemporary ICT and Conventional Extension Towards a New Perspective on Agricultural Extension and Communication in Indonesia.” This speech takes us into the dynamic world of orientation and approaches to agricultural extension and communication. read more

“Kunjungan Ilmiah” (Scientific Visits), or what is familiarly called “KUIL,” is one of the flagship activities of the Public Relations division “Keluarga Mahasiswa Sosial Ekonomi Pertanian (KMSEP).” This activity provides an opportunity for UGM Agricultural Socioeconomic Department students to gain information and learn directly regarding the implementation of Agricultural Socioeconomic science through visits to universities and agro-industry. This year, KUIL Sosek was attended by 52 student participants and one accompanying lecturer. This activity was held on 27-29 October 2023, focusing mainly on visits to Padjadjaran University and Nabila Farm. read more

On Thursday, November 9, 2023, the Agricultural Extension and Communication Study Program, which is under the auspices of the Department of Agricultural Socioeconomics, Faculty of Agriculture UGM, carried out a community service activity entitled “Training on Making Gembus Tempe Chips from Tofu Waste.” This event was held in Pacarejo, Semanu, Gunung Kidul, and was attended by representatives of the Prima Melati Sambirejo Village group and KWT Ngudi Lestari Ngrombol 2 Karangmojo.

This community service activity was carried out to provide practical knowledge to the public regarding using tofu waste to make economically valuable products, such as tempe gembus chips. This activity is not just a form of contribution from the Agricultural Extension and Communication Study Program to the community but also a commitment to local economic empowerment. read more

Agricultural Socioeconomic Week (ASW) is an annual entrepreneurship seminar organized by the Agricultural Socioeconomic Student Family (KMSEP). This activity was held on Saturday, September 30, 2023, and was attended by 160 participants from the general public and students. This event is a platform for UGM Faculty of Agriculture students to increase their insight and motivation in developing business in the agricultural sector. This year’s theme raised at ASW is “Learn and Act: Increasing Entrepreneurial Attitudes in the Agricultural Sector,” reflecting the enthusiasm for learning and acting to increase the entrepreneurial spirit in the agricultural sector. This theme aims to provide motivation and guidance for students interested in developing business in agriculture while also showing the importance of concrete action in facing challenges in the field. read more

On October 25, 2023, one of the study programs from the Department of Agricultural Socioeconomics, namely the Agricultural Extension and Communication Study Program, Gadjah Mada University (UGM), held a community service activity aimed at providing practical knowledge about processing organic waste using a stacked bucket system. This activity took place at the Sambirejo Village Hall, Ngawen, Gunungkidul, and was attended by representatives from Gapoktan Sambirejo, Prima Melati Sambirejo Village, and KWT Ngudi Lestari Ngrombo Karangmojo. read more

On October 25, 2023, the Postgraduate Graduation procession for the 1st period of the 2023/2024 Academic Year was successfully carried out on the Gadjah Mada University Campus. This event witnessed the success of the Department of Agricultural Socioeconomics postgraduate students, who completed their education at master’s (S2) and doctoral (S3) levels. Mutiarra Ridyo Arum, a Master’s student in Agricultural Economics, won the Best Graduate of the Department of Agricultural Social Economics title at the Masters (S2) level. On the other hand, at the doctoral level (S3), the best graduate award was won by Amelia Murtisari, who showed dedication and perseverance in carrying out her education so far. read more

One of the UGM Department of Agricultural Socioeconomics study programs, namely the Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Study Program, recorded brilliant achievements by achieving International Accreditation from ASIIN (Accreditation in Engineering Computer Sciences Natural Sciences Mathematics), an accreditation institution leading at the international level. International accreditation for this study program is valid from 23 September 2022 to 30 September 2028. This success results from the dedication, hard work, and commitment of the UGM Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Study Program to provide high-quality education to its students. read more
