The Department of Socio-Economics (Sosek), Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada, successfully organized a specialized workshop titled “Promotion, Dissemination, and Increasing Visibility of the Agro Economic Journal” on Monday, March 9, 2026. Held from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM WIB at the Faculty of Agriculture UGM, this event marks a significant step in strengthening the academic reputation and reach of scientific publications in the fields of agricultural economics and agribusiness.
The workshop featured Dr. I Wayan Mustika, S.T., M.Eng., Acting Head of Publishing and Printing (Manager of UGM Press) from the Badan Penerbit dan Publikasi (BPP) UGM, as the keynote speaker. Attended by the editorial board and management of the Agro Economic Journal, the session focused on practical strategies to meet higher indexing standards and expand the global reader base.
During the interactive presentation, Dr. I Wayan Mustika emphasized the importance of optimizing digital platforms and strengthening promotional strategies to enhance citation indices. He shared various best practices and success stories from other prominent journals that have successfully increased their impact factor and visibility. This discussion provided the editorial team with concrete references for reforming editorial management to be more adaptive to the evolving international research ecosystem.

By hosting this workshop, the Department of Socio-Economics UGM reaffirms its commitment to supporting the dissemination of knowledge and the development of research-based policies in the agricultural sector. With enhanced visibility, the Agro Economic Journal is expected to transform into a premier publication hub that is not only scientifically excellent but also widely recognized by the global academic community and practitioners.
This workshop initiative is a tangible manifestation of the Department’s support for the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The event directly contributes to SDG 4: Quality education, by strengthening academic capacity and increasing access to high-quality scientific literature. Furthermore, this initiative aligns with SDG 9: Industry, innovation and infrastructure, through the modernization of journal management and the adoption of digital platforms to foster a robust and innovative research ecosystem. Finally, the workshop strengthens SDG 17: Partnerships for the goals, by establishing strategic collaborations between the editorial board and the university press (UGM Press) to expand knowledge dissemination and enhance scientific publication networks on a global scale.
