In early February 2026, the Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada organized the “Agro Ekonomi Journal Workshop: Enhancing International Partnerships (Editors and Reviewers)” as part of its commitment to strengthening journal governance and expanding global academic networks.
The workshop was held on Thursday, February 5, 2026, from 09:00 to 13:15 WIB at the Faculty of Agriculture. The event featured M. Zudhy Irawan, Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of the Civil Engineering Forum (JCEF), as the keynote speaker. He shared insights and best practices in managing reputable academic journals.
The event commenced with opening remarks delivered by Prof. Dr. Ir. Irham, M.Sc., Head of the Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics, and Agus Dwi Nugroho, S.P., M.Sc., Ph.D., Editor-in-Chief of the Agro Ekonomi Journal. In his address, Prof. Irham emphasized the importance of strengthening journal governance as a strategic instrument to enhance the department’s global academic standing. Meanwhile, Agus Dwi Nugroho highlighted the urgency of expanding partnerships with international editors and reviewers to improve quality standards, credibility, and the global competitiveness of the Agro Ekonomi Journal.
During the main session, the workshop fostered an interactive and dynamic discussion. The speaker elaborated on essential aspects of academic journal management, including strategies for building an international editorial board, improving the quality of the peer-review process, strengthening publication ethics, and maintaining consistency in editorial standards. Participants also explored practical approaches to journal indexing and internationalization as concrete steps toward achieving broader global recognition.
The workshop participants—comprising journal management teams, editors, and reviewers—actively engaged in in-depth discussions addressing current challenges faced by national journals in expanding international networks. Topics included reputation building, maintaining publication consistency, and establishing sustainable global partnerships.
This workshop aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 4: Quality education, SDG 9: Industry, innovation and infrastructure, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the goals.
Through this initiative, the Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics reaffirms its commitment to enhancing academic contributions at the international level while supporting sustainable development efforts. The workshop is expected to serve as a strategic milestone in strengthening the global reputation and collaborative capacity of the Agro Ekonomi Journal.
