Retirement Gathering of Prof. Dwidjono Hadi Darwanto: Honoring a Lifetime of Dedication at the Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics UGM

The Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), held a retirement gathering in honor of Prof. Dr. Ir. Dwidjono Hadi Darwanto, S.U. on Wednesday, April 15, 2026. The event took place from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Prof. Harjono Danoesastro Auditorium, Faculty of Agriculture UGM, marking a meaningful occasion to celebrate his dedication and contributions to academia.

The event was attended by a wide range of participants, including Prof. Dwidjono’s family, fellow lecturers, former classmates, faculty leaders such as the Dean and Vice Deans, heads of study programs (PKP, EPA, MMA, and MEP), the Head and Secretary of the Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics, administrative staff, as well as several of his former students. This diverse attendance reflected the strong academic network and personal bonds he built throughout his career.

The gathering was आयोजित as a form of appreciation and gratitude for Prof. Dwidjono’s lifelong service in advancing knowledge, particularly in the field of agricultural socio-economics. The event began with an opening session, followed by welcoming remarks that conveyed impressions, messages, and reflections on his academic journey. One of the highlights was the reading of his life biography, showcasing his professional milestones and achievements.

The atmosphere grew even more heartfelt with the screening of testimonial videos from colleagues and students, expressing their appreciation and best wishes. The presentation of a commemorative token symbolized recognition of his dedication, followed by a group photo session to capture the moment. The event concluded with a friendly gathering, allowing attendees to reconnect, share stories, and strengthen relationships.

Throughout the event, a warm and familial atmosphere was evident, filled with laughter and meaningful conversations among attendees. This retirement gathering not only marked the conclusion of Prof. Dwidjono’s formal academic career but also served as a reflection of the enduring values of collegiality, respect, and community within the department.

This event also aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Recognizing the contributions of academics and their role in education supports SDG 4: Quality education by strengthening higher education ecosystems. Additionally, the sense of togetherness and social support fostered during the event reflects SDG 3: Good health and well-being, particularly in promoting social and emotional well-being within the academic community. Furthermore, the strong connections among stakeholders embody the spirit of SDG 17: Partnerships for the goals through sustained collaboration and networking.
