Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics UGM Achieves Outstanding Media Coverage in 2024

The Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics (Sosek), Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), has achieved remarkable success in media coverage throughout 2024. With more than 220 news articles published on the department’s official website and various social media platforms, Sosek has demonstrated a strong commitment to disseminating academic, research, and student activity information to the public.

Desi Utami, S.P., M.Env.Sc., Ph.D., Head of the Media Unit of the Faculty of Agriculture UGM, highly appreciates the media performance of the Sosek Department. According to her, the department’s media coverage has been excellent, as they consistently publish the latest news in a timely manner. This active dissemination of information not only benefits the faculty internally but also supports the performance targets set by the rectorate. read more

Undergraduate Graduation Ceremony for Period II Academic Year 2024/2025, Faculty of Agriculture, UGM

Yogyakarta, February 26, 2025 – Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) once again held the Undergraduate Graduation Ceremony for Period II of the 2024/2025 Academic Year on Wednesday, February 26, 2025. The graduation procession began at Grha Sabha Pramana (GSP) UGM, where the official ceremony took place, before graduates continued the series of events at their respective faculties.

The Faculty of Agriculture UGM held a Post-Graduation Ceremony for its graduates at the Professor Hardjono Danoesastro Auditorium from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM WIB. This event marked an important milestone in the academic journey of the graduates who have completed their studies. read more

Lentera Desa Workshop: Collaborative Research and Training by PKP UGM and University of Passau

The Agricultural Extension and Communication Study Program (PKP), Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics, Faculty of Agriculture, UGM, in collaboration with the University of Passau, held a Collaborative Research Workshop at Hotel Santika Premiere Jogja on February 19, 2025.

The event, which took place from 08:00 to 16:00 WIB, was attended by various stakeholders, including research teams from UGM and the University of Passau, the Dean of UGM’s Graduate School, the Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, and Cooperation of the Faculty of Agriculture UGM, as well as representatives from UPTD BPSDMP DIY, agricultural offices across DIY, Polbangtan, UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta, agricultural extension officers, and millennial farmers in DIY. read more

MMA UGM ’48 Widyakarya Program in Malaysia

A total of 15 students from the Master of Agribusiness Management (MMA) Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Batch 48, participated in the Widyakarya program held on February 4-6, 2025, in Malaysia. This program was also accompanied by two faculty advisors, Dr. Ir. Lestari Rahayu W, M.P., and Ir. Any Suryantini, MM., Ph.D.

During the program, the students visited several leading agribusiness companies in Malaysia, including the Malaysian Palm Oil Council (palm oil company), Green World Genetics (seed company), Central Sugars Refinery Sdn Bhd (sugar company), and the Graduate School of Business at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. This visit aimed to provide in-depth insights into the agribusiness sector and understand the dynamics of the agricultural industry at an international level. read more

PKP UGM Study Program Collaborates on Research with the University of Passau

The Agricultural Extension and Communication (PKP) Study Program at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) has established a research collaboration with the University of Passau, Germany. This research focuses on evaluating the effectiveness of using Lentera Desa, a digital extension platform, for training both agricultural extension workers and millennial farmers in Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY).

The study aims to examine how integrating extension activities with the Lentera Desa platform can enhance training effectiveness. The platform is designed to be accessible to both extension workers and millennial farmers, offering various online training materials, such as digital literacy and farm record-keeping. read more

The Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Conducts a Preparation and Deployment Event for MBKM Students for the Spring Semester 2024/2025

The Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), organized a preparation and deployment event for students participating in the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program for the Spring Semester 2024/2025. The event was held on the morning of February 7, 2025, from 8:00 to 11:00 AM in Room 301 of Building A10 (Sosek), Faculty of Agriculture, UGM. It was attended by 126 MBKM students, the Head and Secretary of the Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics, as well as the Heads of the Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Study Program and the Agricultural Extension and Communication Study Program. read more

The event took place at the Hardjono Danoesastro Auditorium, Faculty of Agriculture UGM, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, 1ft February 2025. This event was attended by the faculty’s leadership, representatives from various departments, and study programs, including the Master of Agribusiness Management (MMA), Master of Agricultural Economics (MEP), Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness (EPA), and Agricultural Extension and Communication (PKP).

The celebration took place at the Prof. Harjono Danoesastro Auditorium at around 11:00 AM, following the official graduation procession at Grha Sabha Pramana (GSP).

This special event was attended by graduates from various postgraduate programs at the Faculty of Agriculture. Among them were students from the Master of Agribusiness Management (MMA) and Master of Agricultural Economics (MEP) programs. A Student from UGM’s Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics Participates in a Student Exchange Program in Japan

Claudia Regina, a student from the Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Study Program, class of 2022, successfully participated in the prestigious international student exchange program, the Six University Initiative Japan-Indonesia Service Learning Program (SUIJI). This program involves three universities from Indonesia and three universities from Japan, including Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) and Ehime University, where Claudia completed her program.

The SUIJI program took place over three weeks, from September 5 to 25, 2024. Designed as a service learning program, it allowed participants not only to attend academic lectures but also to engage directly with local communities. Claudia, along with other participants, learned about the values, culture, and daily practices of the local people, which she found to be both mindful and meaningful. “This experience truly broadened my perspective on how people live simple yet meaningful lives,” Claudia shared. read more

Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), through its UGM Channel, continues to demonstrate its commitment to addressing strategic issues, particularly in supporting national food security. On Thursday, December 5, 2024, UGM Channel premiered its documentary film titled Di Balik Lumbung Pangan at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Forestry, UGM. The film showcases the struggles of communities in Indonesia’s outermost islands to safeguard food sovereignty amidst the challenges of globalization and climate change. read more
