Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada, held a Farewell Symposium to honor the remarkable career and dedication of Prof. Dr. Ir. Masyhuri. The event took place at the Hardjono Danoesastro Auditorium, Faculty of Agriculture UGM, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, 1ft February 2025. This event was attended by the faculty’s leadership, representatives from various departments, and study programs, including the Master of Agribusiness Management (MMA), Master of Agricultural Economics (MEP), Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness (EPA), and Agricultural Extension and Communication (PKP).

The Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), held the postgraduate graduation ceremony for Academic Year 2024/2025 Period II on January 23, 2025. The celebration took place at the Prof. Harjono Danoesastro Auditorium at around 11:00 AM, following the official graduation procession at Grha Sabha Pramana (GSP).
This special event was attended by graduates from various postgraduate programs at the Faculty of Agriculture. Among them were students from the Master of Agribusiness Management (MMA) and Master of Agricultural Economics (MEP) programs. The celebration marked a joyous and proud moment, not only for the graduates but also for their families and the academic community.
Claudia Regina, a student from the Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Study Program, class of 2022, successfully participated in the prestigious international student exchange program, the Six University Initiative Japan-Indonesia Service Learning Program (SUIJI). This program involves three universities from Indonesia and three universities from Japan, including Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) and Ehime University, where Claudia completed her program.
The SUIJI program took place over three weeks, from September 5 to 25, 2024. Designed as a service learning program, it allowed participants not only to attend academic lectures but also to engage directly with local communities. Claudia, along with other participants, learned about the values, culture, and daily practices of the local people, which she found to be both mindful and meaningful. “This experience truly broadened my perspective on how people live simple yet meaningful lives,” Claudia shared.
Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), through its UGM Channel, continues to demonstrate its commitment to addressing strategic issues, particularly in supporting national food security. On Thursday, December 5, 2024, UGM Channel premiered its documentary film titled Di Balik Lumbung Pangan at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Forestry, UGM. The film showcases the struggles of communities in Indonesia’s outermost islands to safeguard food sovereignty amidst the challenges of globalization and climate change.
The Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada, successfully held an HR Development Workshop and Outbound for its faculty and staff on November 29-30, 2024. The event took place at Griya Persada Hotel & Resort, Kaliurang, Sleman, Yogyakarta, under the theme “Communication Strategies for Faculty and Staff in the Digital Era.” It aimed to enhance communication skills and strengthen team synergy within the department.
On the evening of Friday, November 29, 2024, the workshop commenced with a presentation by Mrs. Dian Fithriwati Darusmin, S.Psi., M.A., Psychologist, a lecturer from Ahmad Dahlan University and an Industrial and Organizational Psychologist. During this session, participants gained insights into effective communication methods, especially in interacting with Generation Z students who possess strong digital capabilities. The interactive Q&A session brought engaging discussions and valuable solutions to challenges in digital communication.
On November 23-24, 2024, the Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), successfully held a Soft Skills Training for its students. Conducted at the Harjono Danoesastro Auditorium, the program aimed to enhance students’ soft skills as essential assets for their academic and professional journeys. Additionally, this training serves as a prerequisite for certain academic requirements, such as applying for teaching assistant roles and registering for thesis examinations.
Yogyakarta, November 20, 2024 – Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) successfully held the Undergraduate Graduation Ceremony for Period I of the 2024/2025 Academic Year, marking a significant milestone for students who have completed their undergraduate education. The ceremony was conducted with great warmth and joy, celebrating the achievements of the graduates.
For the Faculty of Agriculture, the graduation took place at two main venues. The first session was held at Grha Sabha Pramana (GSP), where graduates received their diplomas from the faculty dean. The ceremony continued at the Harjono Danoesastro Auditorium, Faculty of Agriculture, where graduates were presented with their academic transcripts, completing the graduation process.
On Monday, November 18, 2024, the Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics (Sosek), Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), held a graduation ceremony for undergraduate candidates for Period I of the Academic Year 2024/2025. The event took place at the Sosek Building, UGM, starting at 12:30 PM, attended by 31 undergraduate candidates along with faculty members and administrative staff.
The ceremony was organized to appreciate the hard work of the students during their studies in the Department of Sosek. It also served as an opportunity for the faculty members to share advice and encouragement with the students before they officially graduate. The event was filled with joy and warmth, creating memorable moments for everyone involved.
On November 12-13, 2024, the Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics, Faculty of Agriculture, UGM, successfully held the SIMSEPA (Agricultural Socio-Economics Management Information System) Socialization. This event marked a strategic step toward achieving a more efficient, modern, and structured administrative management system to support academic and operational needs within the department.
The socialization was divided into two main sessions. On November 12, 2024, the event was conducted offline at the Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics Building, targeting faculty members and administrative staff. Meanwhile, on November 13, 2024, the session for students was held online, allowing broader participation.
Undergraduate students from the Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics (Sosek) at Gadjah Mada University (UGM), Class of 2022, successfully completed a Social and Economic Agricultural Assessment Practicum (PSEP) in Karangrejek Village, Wonosari Sub-district, Gunung Kidul Regency, from November 1-4, 2024. This practicum is part of a required course designed to deepen students’ understanding of rural farmers’ socio-economic conditions and identify issues within rural communities, equipping them with essential knowledge and skills for their future careers.
