On October 30, 2024, the Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Study Program at the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) held a guest lecture titled “Applied Neuroscience: Neuromarketing”. The event, which took place at the MMA Auditorium, Building A10, Faculty of Agriculture, ran from 1:30 to 3:30 PM and was attended by students of the Agribusiness Management course, including several international exchange students. The guest lecture aimed to introduce and deepen students’ understanding of neuromarketing, an approach that integrates neuroscience with marketing strategies.

The Agricultural Extension and Communication Program (PKP), part of the Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), held an insightful guest lecture on Wednesday, October 23, 2024. The event, titled “Planning Agricultural Extension Content Through Social Media,” took place in the Rural Lab on the 3rd Floor of Building A2.a and was attended by students of the Methods & Techniques of Agricultural Extension and Communication course, who were eager to learn effective and impactful digital extension methods.
On October 16, 2024, the Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics, Faculty of Agriculture UGM, held a training session titled “Data Analysis Using SEM-PLS” at the Venture Lab, AGLC Building, 6th floor. The event was attended by PhD students and several Master’s students from the Faculty of Agriculture who share a strong interest in quantitative data analysis methods. The training featured Ms. Tri Hanifawati, S.Si., M.Sc., a lecturer from Universitas Muhammadiyah Bandung, as the speaker, and Mr. Daffa Sandi Lasitya, S.P., M.P., a lecturer at the Faculty of Agriculture UGM, as the moderator. This training aimed to enhance students’ capabilities in understanding and implementing the SEM-PLS data analysis method.
On October 23 and 24, 2024, the Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics (Sosek), Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), held a series of ceremonies to honor its graduating postgraduate students. This event comprised a farewell ceremony organized by the Department on October 23 and an official graduation ceremony conducted by UGM on October 24. This moment marked an invaluable milestone for the graduates from the Master’s Programs in Agricultural Economics (MEP) and Agribusiness Management (MMA).
The Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), continues to demonstrate its commitment to addressing global challenges related to environmental sustainability and food security. On October 17, 2024, the department proudly hosted the second International Conference on Sustainable Agricultural Socioeconomics, Agribusiness, and Rural Development (ICSASARD), contributing to the search for solutions to critical issues in agriculture and rural development.
The Agricultural Extension and Communication Study Program (PKP), Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics, Faculty of Agriculture UGM, successfully held the 9th Kasongo Exhibition on October 5, 2024, at the Hardjono Danoesastro Auditorium, Faculty of Agriculture. This biennial event aims to introduce modern agriculture to young generations, particularly high school students and university students from various regions. The event brought together more than 100 participants, with the goal of increasing interest in the rapidly evolving agricultural sector through technological innovations.
On October 3-4, 2024, Prof. Dr. Jamhari, S.P., M.P., a Professor from the Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Study Program, Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics, Faculty of Agriculture UGM, was invited as a speaker at the 8th Indonesian Palm Oil Research Week (PERISAI) 2024. The event, held in Nusa Dua, Bali, carried the theme “Green Gold: Transforming Palm Oil Industry through Cutting-Edge Technologies” and aimed to showcase the latest research innovations to stakeholders in the palm oil industry, including government, private sectors, academia, and the broader public.
The Agricultural Extension and Communication Study Program, part of the Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), recently conducted a community service program in Sidoluhur Village, Sleman Regency. This initiative is part of the program’s commitment to supporting inclusive development by empowering communities through a local agro-economy approach. The activities included ecoprint training and the distribution of plant seedlings, with a focus on sustainability and empowering members of the “Luhur Jiwo” community, a group that provides opportunities for individuals with psychosocial disabilities (ODGP) to engage in productive and social activities.
From September 5-7, 2024, AgriFest 2024 was successfully organized by the UGM Center for Agro-Technology Innovation (PIAT) as part of the 15th UGM lustrum celebration. With the theme “Seeding Ideas, Growing Future: Adapting to the Era of Technological Disruption in the Agricultural Sector to Achieve National Food Security”, the event attracted around 600 participants daily and featured a variety of activities, such as a National Talkshow, Best Practice Talkshow, Workshops, Exhibitions, Healthy Exercises, a Rice Dish Innovation Competition, and more.
