Elang Trias Pandegirot, a student of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness (EPA) Study Program, class of 2021, Faculty of Agriculture, UGM, is currently gaining international learning experience through the Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA) program. The University of Siena became his choice for exploring education abroad because it offers courses relevant to EPA, such as International Economics, Methods for Social Science Analysis, and Corporate Social Responsibility. Khosyi Adam Surya Atmaja and Muhammad Harya Kurniawan, students from the Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics, Faculty of Agriculture, UGM, carried out a Community Service Program (KKN) in Fajar Baru Village, Ketahun District, North Bengkulu Regency, Bengkulu Province. For 50 days, from July 1 to August 19, 2024, they conducted various community empowerment programs focusing on strengthening MSMEs and institutional capacities.

The primary focus of this KKN was to assist the people of Fajar Baru Village in maximizing agricultural potential and addressing various socio-economic challenges. One of the main initiatives implemented was the dissemination of information on the use of organic fertilizers derived from oil palm waste and the digitalization of farm record-keeping through the “PATRIOT GAMA” program. Additionally, they introduced the latest agricultural technology by organizing a workshop on solar-powered pest traps in the intercropping of horticulture and oil palm, as well as training on making eco-enzyme from household organic waste. read more

For 50 days, Ian Satya Lusanto and Endang Setyoasih, students from the Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture UGM, carried out their Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) or community service in Karatung Tengah Village, Nanusa District, Talaud Islands Regency. In this remote area, they explored the village’s agro-maritime potential and worked to elevate the creative economy and tourism based on community empowerment to achieve sustainable welfare.

Their KKN theme focused on the Optimization of Agro-Maritime Potential through Creative Economy and Tourism Based on Community Empowerment. Amidst the natural beauty and hospitality of the local residents, Ian and Endang directed their efforts toward revitalizing the village garden, analyzing farming businesses, utilizing home gardens, and conducting socialization on organic fertilizer production. read more

Adelia Magda Firdausi, or Magda as she is affectionately known, is a student of the Agricultural Extension and Communication Study Program (PKP), class of 2021, at the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada. Together with her KKN team, Magda spent 50 days in Darma Village, Darma District, Kuningan Regency, West Java. For Ines, a 2020 Agricultural Extension and Communication Study Program student, Real Work Lectures (KKN) is a call to contribute to society, especially in Indonesia’s Disadvantaged, Frontier, and Outermost (3T) regions. Therefore, in the KKN-PPM UGM Period 2 2023, Ines chose to carry out service in the Southeast Maluku Regency, especially in the Ohoi Dian Darat area, Hoat Sorbay District.

Ines was inspired by several of her seniors who had also served on Kei Island. The desire to see firsthand the conditions of communities outside Java, as well as the beauty of the white sand beaches on the Kei Islands, was the main trigger for Ines to choose KKN in Southeast Maluku. Moreover, the white sand beach in Kei is known as the beach with the finest white sand on the Asian continent. read more

Haidar, a student of the Agricultural Extension and Communication Study Program class of 2020, carried out the UGM PPM Real Work Lecture (KKN) period 2 of 2023 in Sembungan Village, Kejajar District, Wonosobo Regency, Central Java. This village is famous as the highest village on the island of Java and has a unique commodity, namely carica fruit. Haidar chose KKN in Sembungan Village because he was interested in carica fruit, which can only be grown in certain places. Apart from that, Haidar wants to gain new experience in agriculture in the highlands and enjoy the beauty of natural tourism in the area. read more
