The Master of Agribusiness Management (MMA) Study Program, Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), has officially introduced the Agribusiness Digital Strategy study concentration. This new concentration is designed for students who wish to develop expertise in the digital transformation of the agribusiness sector.
The establishment of this study concentration reflects the program’s commitment to addressing the growing demand for professionals capable of integrating digital technologies into agribusiness management. Through this concentration, students will gain knowledge of emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Big Data, and the Internet of Things (IoT), and learn how these technologies can be applied to support decision-making, business development, as well as the marketing and export of agribusiness products.
The Agribusiness Digital Strategy study concentration is developed through a collaboration between the Master of Agribusiness Management Program at UGM, the Master of Computer Science Program at UGM, and GeTI (Global Edukasi Talenta Inkubator). This interdisciplinary collaboration combines expertise in agribusiness and information technology to prepare graduates who are well-equipped to meet the challenges of an increasingly digitalized industry.
In addition to offering a curriculum that aligns with current industry trends, the program adopts a hybrid learning system, providing greater flexibility for both full-time students and working professionals seeking to enhance their knowledge and skills.
The introduction of this study concentration is expected to produce graduates who possess not only a strong foundation in agribusiness management but also the ability to design and implement technology-driven business strategies. Such competencies are increasingly essential for supporting innovation and enhancing the competitiveness of Indonesia’s agribusiness sector in the digital era.
Through this initiative, the Master of Agribusiness Management Program at UGM reaffirms its commitment to delivering future-oriented education while contributing to the development of a more innovative, adaptive, and sustainable agribusiness ecosystem.
The introduction of the Agribusiness Digital Strategy study concentration contributes to several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It supports SDG 4: Quality education by providing higher education that is responsive to technological advancements and industry needs. The program also contributes to SDG 8: Decent work and economic growth by preparing graduates with digital competencies that enhance workforce competitiveness. Furthermore, the integration of technologies such as AI, Big Data, and IoT into agribusiness education advances SDG 9: Industry innovation and infrastructure by promoting innovation, digital transformation, and the modernization of the agribusiness sector.
