Yogyakarta, 20/2/2025 – The spirit of sharing and caring continues to thrive among students of the Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics, Faculty of Agriculture, UGM. Recently, members of the Keluarga Mahasiswa Sosial Ekonomi Pertanian (KMSEP) carried out the Sosek Peduli program, distributing free takjil to those in need around Yogyakarta.
Sosek Peduli is an annual initiative under the social and community service division of KMSEP. This program involves fundraising through open donations, which are then used to provide iftar meals during Ramadan. Additionally, part of the donations is distributed to orphanages.
The main goal of this initiative is to foster empathy and social awareness, especially towards those who are fasting and need food to break their fast. It also serves as a way to strengthen the bonds among KMSEP members. The fundraising process was conducted by sharing open donation posters on social media, allowing broader participation from the community.
The distribution of takjil took place at several key locations, including Kali Mambu, Mandala Krida, Kridosono, Lempuyangan, and the area around SMAN 9 Yogyakarta. Active students from the Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics took part in directly handing out the meals to those in need.
Despite facing challenges such as unpredictable weather and difficulty in finding recipients in certain locations, the program was successfully carried out. The heartfelt smiles and prayers from the beneficiaries were a source of joy and motivation for the students. One of the most memorable moments was witnessing the happiness of the recipients and the camaraderie among students as they worked together to distribute the meals.
The Sosek Peduli initiative is planned to continue annually every Ramadan. Through this activity, students hope to contribute positively to society and inspire others to engage in acts of kindness. The program aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly:
SDG 2: Zero Hunger, by providing food assistance to those in need.
SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, by supporting better nutrition during fasting.
SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, by encouraging collaboration through donation campaigns and social participation.
May Sosek Peduli continue to bring benefits to the community and receive ongoing support from the public.
