Community Service Update: Training on Digital Farming Recordkeeping and Stacked Buckets for Composting

On Tuesday, August 6, 2024, lecturers from the Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics, Faculty of Agriculture, UGM, conducted a community service activity at the Pusat Pelatihan Pertanian dan Perdesaan Swadaya (P4S) Tani Merbabu, Ngablak, Magelang. This activity, themed “Training on Digital Farming Recordkeeping and Stacked Buckets for Composting,” aimed to provide farmers with new knowledge and skills in digitally recording their farming activities and utilizing simple technology for composting. read more

The Story of KKN Sosek: Agricultural and Environmental Innovations in Darma Village

Adelia Magda Firdausi, or Magda as she is affectionately known, is a student of the Agricultural Extension and Communication Study Program (PKP), class of 2021, at the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada. Together with her KKN team, Magda spent 50 days in Darma Village, Darma District, Kuningan Regency, West Java. Under the theme “Village Potential Development and Community Empowerment,” they sought to make a positive impact on the community through various carefully designed programs. read more

The KKN, which runs for 50 days from July 1 to August 19, 2024, carries the theme “Empowering Communities through Agroecology and Geothermal Energy: Innovative Strategies for Optimizing Local Resources in Tourism and Creative Economy in Ibun and Laksana Villages with a Community-Based Development Approach.” read more

Curriculum Development Workshop at UGM’s Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics: Enhancing Academic Service Quality

On August 1-2, 2024, the Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics (Sosek) at UGM’s Faculty of Agriculture held a Curriculum Development Workshop in Madiun, East Java. This event aimed to enhance the quality of academic services and teaching processes within the Sosek Department, as part of preparations for the upcoming academic year.

The two-day event was attended by faculty members from the Sosek Department, who actively participated in the scheduled activities. The main agenda of the workshop was to discuss the development of a new curriculum as well as preparations for course administration, fieldwork, the Independent Campus Learning Program (MBKM), and final thesis projects. read more

Yogyakarta, July 28, 2024 – The Faculty of Agriculture at UGM, particularly the Department of Agricultural Social Economics, held a retirement ceremony to honor the contributions and dedication of Prof. Dr. Ir. Sunarru Samsi Hariadi, M.S., who has served for 44 years. The event, held at the Harjono Danoesastro Auditorium, was attended by colleagues, alumni, students, and faculty leaders.

The ceremony began with warm remarks from the Department Chair, Dr. Jangkung Handoyo Mulyo, M.Ec., and the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Ir. Jaka Widada, M.P., Ph.D. Both expressed high appreciation for Prof. Sunarru’s contributions to advancing the field of agricultural social economics at UGM. read more

Graduation of the Third Postgraduate Program: Department of Agricultural Social Economics Cultivates Quality Graduates

The Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada, celebrated its third postgraduate graduation on July 24, 2024. The event, held at the Hardjono Danoesastro Auditorium, marked a significant milestone for 26 graduates, including 24 masters and 2 doctoral candidates.

The Department of Agricultural Social Economics (Sosek) is thrilled to announce the achievements of its graduates. Out of the 26 graduates from the Faculty of Agriculture, 13 were from Sosek, showcasing the department’s commitment to producing high-quality graduates. read more

UGM Agricultural Economics Student Crowns as First Runner-up in Mas Mbak Klaten 2024

Prasdani Titah Kinasih, a 2022 Agricultural Extension and Communication student at UGM, has brought honor to her alma mater by winning the second place in the Mas Mbak Klaten 2024 pageant. This remarkable achievement is the result of Titah’s hard work and dedication to contributing to her hometown, Klaten Regency.

From the beginning, Titah had a clear vision to promote Klaten’s tourism potential. Through this event, she was able to delve deeper into her knowledge of Klaten’s tourist destinations and their benefits to the community. Not only that, Titah also managed to improve her public speaking skills, self-confidence, and expand her network. read more

Sosek Students Bring Home the Medals at Portani 2024

Faculty of Agriculture Sports and Arts Week (PORTANI) was successfully held from May 20 to June 21, 2024. This competition event between departments at the Faculty of Agriculture at UGM became a forum for students to channel their interests and talents in the fields of sports and the arts. PORTANI 2024 is not only a competition event but is also a concrete step for the UGM Faculty of Agriculture in supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially in the fields of health, education, and gender equality. One department that has attracted attention is the Department of Agricultural Socioeconomics. By winning brilliant medals, Sosek Agriculture students proved themselves to be a force to be reckoned with. read more
