Inauguration of Prof. Subejo as Professor at Gadjah Mada University: Building a New Perspective on Agricultural Extension and Communication in Indonesia

On Tuesday, November 21, 2023, Gadjah Mada University held an inauguration event for Prof. Subejo, S.P., M.Sc., Ph.D., as an Agricultural Extension and Communication Professor. This event occurred at the Gadjah Mada University Senate Hall and was led directly by the Rector of Gadjah Mada University, Prof. Dr. Ova Emilia, M.Med. Ed., Sp.OG (K), Ph.D.

This inauguration event was a historic moment. Prof. Subejo delivered an inauguration speech titled “Coexistence of Contemporary ICT and Conventional Extension Towards a New Perspective on Agricultural Extension and Communication in Indonesia.” This speech takes us into the dynamic world of orientation and approaches to agricultural extension and communication. read more

KUIL Sosek 2023: Opening the Door to Insight and Innovation in the Agricultural Sector

“Kunjungan Ilmiah” (Scientific Visits), or what is familiarly called “KUIL,” is one of the flagship activities of the Public Relations division “Keluarga Mahasiswa Sosial Ekonomi Pertanian (KMSEP).” This activity provides an opportunity for UGM Agricultural Socioeconomic Department students to gain information and learn directly regarding the implementation of Agricultural Socioeconomic science through visits to universities and agro-industry. This year, KUIL Sosek was attended by 52 student participants and one accompanying lecturer. This activity was held on 27-29 October 2023, focusing mainly on visits to Padjadjaran University and Nabila Farm. read more

Building Collaboration and Learning: Training on Making Gembus Tempe Chips from Tofu Waste

On Thursday, November 9, 2023, the Agricultural Extension and Communication Study Program, which is under the auspices of the Department of Agricultural Socioeconomics, Faculty of Agriculture UGM, carried out a community service activity entitled “Training on Making Gembus Tempe Chips from Tofu Waste.” This event was held in Pacarejo, Semanu, Gunung Kidul, and was attended by representatives of the Prima Melati Sambirejo Village group and KWT Ngudi Lestari Ngrombol 2 Karangmojo.

This community service activity was carried out to provide practical knowledge to the public regarding using tofu waste to make economically valuable products, such as tempe gembus chips. This activity is not just a form of contribution from the Agricultural Extension and Communication Study Program to the community but also a commitment to local economic empowerment. read more

ASW 2023: Increasing Entrepreneurship in the Agricultural Sector

Agricultural Socioeconomic Week (ASW) is an annual entrepreneurship seminar organized by the Agricultural Socioeconomic Student Family (KMSEP). This activity was held on Saturday, September 30, 2023, and was attended by 160 participants from the general public and students. This event is a platform for UGM Faculty of Agriculture students to increase their insight and motivation in developing business in the agricultural sector. This year’s theme raised at ASW is “Learn and Act: Increasing Entrepreneurial Attitudes in the Agricultural Sector,” reflecting the enthusiasm for learning and acting to increase the entrepreneurial spirit in the agricultural sector. This theme aims to provide motivation and guidance for students interested in developing business in agriculture while also showing the importance of concrete action in facing challenges in the field. read more
