The Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics, Faculty of Agriculture, UGM, through the Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Study Program, successfully held a guest lecture on entrepreneurship on Wednesday, March 20, 2025. The event took place offline at the MMA Auditorium, 3rd Floor, Sosek A10 Building, featuring Mr. Janu Muhammad, S.Pd., M.Sc., the founder and CEO of Sayur Sleman, as the guest speaker. The session was attended by students enrolled in the entrepreneurship course under the theme “Building the Founding Team.”
Yogyakarta, 26/03/2025 – Another proud achievement has been made by a student of the Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics, Faculty of Agriculture, UGM. Regina Claudia Setiawan, a student from the Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Study Program, class of 2022, has been awarded the title of Outstanding Student of the Faculty of Agriculture UGM 2025 for her dedication and consistency in academics, research, and community service.
Originally from Surabaya, Regina shared that her biggest motivation in excelling was to make a meaningful impact and make her parents proud. Since the beginning of her studies at UGM, she had set her sights on the Outstanding Student (Mapres) competition as a goal she wanted to achieve. “This competition integrates writing and presentation skills while testing my understanding of the knowledge I have gained and its real-world applications. Additionally, it serves as recognition for my three years of achievements in competitions, community service, publications, and entrepreneurship,” said Regina.
Yogyakarta, March 19, 2025 – The Agricultural Extension and Communication Study Program, Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics, Faculty of Agriculture at UGM, in collaboration with Prospect Institute, held a guest lecture titled Prospect Talks #46 Goes to Campus with the theme “The Future of Agriculture: Agricultural Innovation and the Role of CSR in Achieving It.” The event featured Rinda Primawarto, CSR Manager of PLN Nusantara Power, and Prof. Subejo, S.P., M.Sc., Ph.D., Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, and Cooperation at the Faculty of Agriculture, UGM. The panel discussion was moderated by Dani Bina Margiana, Training, Certification, & Publishing Supervisor.
Yogyakarta, 20/2/2025 – The spirit of sharing and caring continues to thrive among students of the Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics, Faculty of Agriculture, UGM. Recently, members of the Keluarga Mahasiswa Sosial Ekonomi Pertanian (KMSEP) carried out the Sosek Peduli program, distributing free takjil to those in need around Yogyakarta.
Sosek Peduli is an annual initiative under the social and community service division of KMSEP. This program involves fundraising through open donations, which are then used to provide iftar meals during Ramadan. Additionally, part of the donations is distributed to orphanages.
The Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics (Sosek), Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), has achieved remarkable success in media coverage throughout 2024. With more than 220 news articles published on the department’s official website and various social media platforms, Sosek has demonstrated a strong commitment to disseminating academic, research, and student activity information to the public.
Desi Utami, S.P., M.Env.Sc., Ph.D., Head of the Media Unit of the Faculty of Agriculture UGM, highly appreciates the media performance of the Sosek Department. According to her, the department’s media coverage has been excellent, as they consistently publish the latest news in a timely manner. This active dissemination of information not only benefits the faculty internally but also supports the performance targets set by the rectorate.
Claudia Regina, a student from the Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Study Program, class of 2022, successfully participated in the prestigious international student exchange program, the Six University Initiative Japan-Indonesia Service Learning Program (SUIJI). This program involves three universities from Indonesia and three universities from Japan, including Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) and Ehime University, where Claudia completed her program.
The SUIJI program took place over three weeks, from September 5 to 25, 2024. Designed as a service learning program, it allowed participants not only to attend academic lectures but also to engage directly with local communities. Claudia, along with other participants, learned about the values, culture, and daily practices of the local people, which she found to be both mindful and meaningful. “This experience truly broadened my perspective on how people live simple yet meaningful lives,” Claudia shared.
Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), through its UGM Channel, continues to demonstrate its commitment to addressing strategic issues, particularly in supporting national food security. On Thursday, December 5, 2024, UGM Channel premiered its documentary film titled Di Balik Lumbung Pangan at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Forestry, UGM. The film showcases the struggles of communities in Indonesia’s outermost islands to safeguard food sovereignty amidst the challenges of globalization and climate change.
The Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada, successfully held an HR Development Workshop and Outbound for its faculty and staff on November 29-30, 2024. The event took place at Griya Persada Hotel & Resort, Kaliurang, Sleman, Yogyakarta, under the theme “Communication Strategies for Faculty and Staff in the Digital Era.” It aimed to enhance communication skills and strengthen team synergy within the department.
On the evening of Friday, November 29, 2024, the workshop commenced with a presentation by Mrs. Dian Fithriwati Darusmin, S.Psi., M.A., Psychologist, a lecturer from Ahmad Dahlan University and an Industrial and Organizational Psychologist. During this session, participants gained insights into effective communication methods, especially in interacting with Generation Z students who possess strong digital capabilities. The interactive Q&A session brought engaging discussions and valuable solutions to challenges in digital communication.
On November 23-24, 2024, the Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), successfully held a Soft Skills Training for its students. Conducted at the Harjono Danoesastro Auditorium, the program aimed to enhance students’ soft skills as essential assets for their academic and professional journeys. Additionally, this training serves as a prerequisite for certain academic requirements, such as applying for teaching assistant roles and registering for thesis examinations.
Yogyakarta, November 20, 2024 – Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) successfully held the Undergraduate Graduation Ceremony for Period I of the 2024/2025 Academic Year, marking a significant milestone for students who have completed their undergraduate education. The ceremony was conducted with great warmth and joy, celebrating the achievements of the graduates.
For the Faculty of Agriculture, the graduation took place at two main venues. The first session was held at Grha Sabha Pramana (GSP), where graduates received their diplomas from the faculty dean. The ceremony continued at the Harjono Danoesastro Auditorium, Faculty of Agriculture, where graduates were presented with their academic transcripts, completing the graduation process.
