Intan Nur Khasanah, a student from the Agricultural Extension and Communication Program, Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada, has completed a 50-day Community Service Program (KKN) in Karanggondang Village, Mlonggo Sub-District, Jepara Regency, Central Java. Together with her team, Intan implemented various initiatives under the theme “Optimizing Coastal Area Potential through Technology Integration, Economic Empowerment, and Environmental Sustainability for Community Welfare.” These activities not only delivered tangible benefits to the local community but also aligned with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Lalita Amaranggana Priyahita, a student from the Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Department, Faculty of Agriculture at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), recently completed her Community Service Program (KKN) in Bungintimbe Village, Petasia Timur Sub-District, North Morowali Regency, from July 25 to August 3, 2025. Under the theme “Optimizing Environmental Management, Disaster Resilience, and Sustainable Tourism Development through Community Empowerment,” Lalita and her team implemented key programs, including the Green School Movement, Disaster-Ready School Initiative, and Village Food Security Program. These initiatives were carried out in collaboration with strategic partners such as PT Stardust Estate Investment, PT Agro Nusa Abadi, the North Morowali BPBD, and the North Morowali Local Government.
The commitment to inclusive and socially empowering international higher education was once again demonstrated by a student from the Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics (Sosek), Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM). Ulin Nuha Diah Wulandari, a student of the Agricultural Extension and Communication Study Program, was selected as one of the Indonesian delegates for the UP HIRAYA Short-Term Exchange Program 2025 organized by the University of the Philippines. Carrying the theme “Honing an Inclusive and Socially Responsive Internationalization Program,” the program served as a platform for cross-cultural learning and academic collaboration among Southeast Asian countries.
The Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics (Sosek), Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), took part in the Postgraduate Graduation Ceremony for Period IV of the 2024/2025 Academic Year, held on Wednesday, July 23, 2025. This event marked an official and ceremonial recognition of academic achievement for master’s students who have successfully completed their studies.
The graduation ceremony was conducted in two sessions. The first session took place at Grha Sabha Pramana (GSP) UGM starting at 07:00 WIB, attended by all postgraduate graduates from various faculties within UGM. The solemn atmosphere reflected the institution’s appreciation for its finest graduates. The second session was held at the Harjono Danoesastro Auditorium, Faculty of Agriculture, UGM, in a more intimate and familial setting. This internal session brought together graduates, faculty members, administrative staff, and their families in a heartwarming and memorable moment.
The Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics (Sosek), Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada, held a graduation send-off ceremony for its postgraduate students on Tuesday, July 22, 2025. This event served as a tribute and expression of appreciation for the academic achievements of students from the Master of Agricultural Economics (MEP) and Master of Agribusiness Management (MMA) programs who are set to participate in the official graduation ceremony for the July 2025 period.
Held in the MMA Seminar Room, the event was attended by 12 graduating students. The ceremony began with the reading of the graduates’ names, followed by their individual entrance into the room in a solemn and respectful manner. A sense of joy and emotion filled the atmosphere, shared among students, lecturers, and academic staff who gathered to witness this meaningful moment.
The Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics (Sosek), Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), continues to demonstrate its commitment to broadening academic horizons and strengthening global networks through the implementation of the Widyakarya program—an international scientific visit. From July 4 to 17, 2025, two graduate programs under the department, namely the Master of Agricultural Economics (MEP) and the Master of Agribusiness Management (MMA), jointly conducted a Widyakarya in Malaysia.
In an effort to strengthen research capacity and data literacy among academics and the general public, the Laboratory of Socio-Economic and Agribusiness Modeling, Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics, Faculty of Agriculture UGM, once again held Sapa Data (Data and Analysis Training Series) in June 2025. This activity consisted of two training sessions, conducted in a hybrid format and open to the public.
The first session, Sapa Data 1, took place on Friday, June 20, 2025, with the theme “Introduction to International Macro-Level Secondary Data.” The session was delivered by Agus Dwi Nugroho, Ph.D., who systematically explained various sources of international macroeconomic secondary data. From general concepts to practical data retrieval techniques, participants were provided with in-depth knowledge to support research at global and regional levels.
On June 2, 2025, the Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Study Program of the Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics (Sosek), Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), successfully held the Entrepreneurship Expo 2025. This event was the culmination of the Entrepreneurship course taken by students this semester, serving as a platform for them to bring their business ideas—developed since the beginning of the practicum—into reality.
The expo featured a wide variety of student-run stalls offering food and beverages to campus visitors. The event attracted an enthusiastic crowd, with many visitors coming to support and enjoy the students’ products. The diversity of offerings and the engaging atmosphere added to the expo’s lively and festive spirit. In addition to selling their products, students also had to present their business ideas in front of visitors and lecturers, explaining the concepts, strategies, and innovations behind their products.
Yogyakarta, May 28, 2025 – Pride and joy filled the atmosphere at Universitas Gadjah Mada’s (UGM) Faculty of Agriculture, particularly within the Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics, following the Bachelor’s Graduation Ceremony for Period III of the 2024/2025 Academic Year on Wednesday, May 28, 2025. This sacred procession marked the culmination of the students’ academic journey and their formal inauguration as graduates ready to contribute to society.
The graduation commenced with the core ceremony of diploma conferral at Grha Sabha Pramana (GSP), attended by all UGM graduates. Exclusively for the Faculty of Agriculture, graduates proceeded to a second event at the Harjono Danoesastro Auditorium within the faculty complex for the symbolic presentation of academic transcripts. The presence of family, relatives, and friends filling both venues added to the lively atmosphere, uplifting the spirits of the new graduates.
