From 30 August to 1 September 2023, the Department of Agricultural Socio-economics, Gadjah Mada University (UGM), again held a Curriculum Development Workshop for three days. This activity aims to improve the quality of academic services and teaching and learning activities within the UGM Department of Social Sciences.

Starting the Workshop with Enthusiasm

The first day of the workshop was the start of a series of ambitious activities. The event was officially opened by the UGM Department of Agricultural Socio-economics Chair, Dr. Jangkung Handoyo Mulyo, M.Ec.. The agenda continued with socialization about SIMSEPA, a platform specifically designed to support all aspects of academic activities, both for lecturers and students. With SIMSEPA, it is hoped that educational administration and management processes can run more efficiently, allowing greater focus on the teaching and learning process.

After the socialization session, workshop participants were also involved in discussions regarding the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) of the Department of Agricultural Socio-economics. This SOP guide will help departments carry out various academic and administrative processes more consistently and effectively.

Day Two: Learning Development and Life Balance

On the second day of the workshop, they were focused on learning development. In this session, participants were divided into two rooms with a discussion agenda regarding learning support plans in each study program. The second day also provided work-life balance training conducted by the Swaragama Training Center. Work-life balance is a concept that refers to efforts to achieve a balance between work and personal life. Participants are taught how to manage time and energy wisely so they can live a balanced life between career and personal life. This is an essential aspect of avoiding excessive stress and maintaining mental and physical health.

Day Three: Recording Moments and Looking to the Future

The last day of the workshop was a precious moment to record memories together. The participants took part in a group photo session to update department profiles. Ensuring that all the latest information is well documented and available to the public is important.

This activity ran smoothly and was full of enthusiasm from all participants. It is hoped that this workshop’s results will positively contribute to optimizing the quality of academic services. The UGM Department of Agricultural Socio-economics continues to be committed to improving the quality of its education and services. Through various initiatives, such as the Curriculum Development Workshop, we hope to continue to develop and make meaningful contributions to the academic world and society.
