In a heartfelt effort to strengthen social bonds and commemorate the celebration of Eid al-Fitr 1446 H, the Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics (Sosek), Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), held a Syawalan gathering on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Sendang Ayu Restaurant, Kalasan, Sleman. The event was attended by around 50 participants, including current faculty members, retired professors, and administrative staff.

The program began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an, followed by a welcoming speech from the Head of the Department, Prof. Dr. Jangkung Handoyo Mulyo, M.Ec. In his remarks, he emphasized the importance of maintaining unity and a strong sense of kinship within the academic environment. A speech was also delivered by retired professor Prof. Dr. Ir. Sunarru Samsi Hariadi, M.S., who encouraged all attendees to uphold noble values in both campus life and society at large. read more

The Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics (Sosek), Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), proudly celebrated the achievements of its postgraduate students during the Graduation Ceremony held on Tuesday, April 23, 2025. The event took place solemnly at Grha Sabha Pramana (GSP) UGM from 07:00 to 11:00 WIB, where graduates received their diplomas directly from their respective faculty deans.

Following the main ceremony at GSP, the event continued at the Harjono Danoesastro Auditorium, Faculty of Agriculture. At this venue, the graduates received their academic transcripts as a record of their academic achievements. In addition, several awards were presented to outstanding students, including honors for the best graduate of the faculty, the best graduate of each department, and the fastest graduate. read more

The Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics, Faculty of Agriculture UGM, held a special send-off ceremony for its postgraduate students on Tuesday, April 22, 2025. The event took place at 1:00 PM in the MMA North Wing Classroom, Sosek Building, and was attended by faculty members, administrative staff, and prospective graduates who will soon be officially conferred their degrees by the university.

The ceremony began with the procession of the soon-to-be graduates entering the room, followed by an opening speech from the Head of the Department, Prof. Dr. Jangkung Handoyo Mulyo, S.P., M.Ec. In his address, Prof. Jangkung shared heartfelt advice and encouragement, reminding the graduates to remain humble, uphold integrity, and actively contribute to society and the professional world after leaving UGM. read more

One of its esteemed lecturers, Prof. Dr. Jamhari, S.P., M.P., was officially inaugurated as a Professor in the field of Agricultural Marketing on Tuesday, April 15, 2025. The inauguration ceremony took place solemnly at the UGM Senate Hall from 11:00 to 12:00 WIB.

The event commenced with opening remarks by the Chair of the UGM Board of Professors, followed by the reading of the excerpt from the Decree of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia regarding Prof. Jamhari’s appointment. Yogyakarta, 26/03/2025 – Another proud achievement has been made by a student of the Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics, Faculty of Agriculture, UGM. Regina Claudia Setiawan, a student from the Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Study Program, class of 2022, has been awarded the title of Outstanding Student of the Faculty of Agriculture UGM 2025 for her dedication and consistency in academics, research, and community service.

Originally from Surabaya, Regina shared that her biggest motivation in excelling was to make a meaningful impact and make her parents proud. Since the beginning of her studies at UGM, she had set her sights on the Outstanding Student (Mapres) competition as a goal she wanted to achieve. “This competition integrates writing and presentation skills while testing my understanding of the knowledge I have gained and its real-world applications. Additionally, it serves as recognition for my three years of achievements in competitions, community service, publications, and entrepreneurship,” said Regina. read more

Yogyakarta, 20/2/2025 – The spirit of sharing and caring continues to thrive among students of the Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics, Faculty of Agriculture, UGM. Recently, members of the Keluarga Mahasiswa Sosial Ekonomi Pertanian (KMSEP) carried out the Sosek Peduli program, distributing free takjil to those in need around Yogyakarta.

Sosek Peduli is an annual initiative under the social and community service division of KMSEP. This program involves fundraising through open donations, which are then used to provide iftar meals during Ramadan. Additionally, part of the donations is distributed to orphanages. read more
