Yogyakarta, August 27, 2025 – The Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics (Sosek) at the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), successfully held a release ceremony for its prospective graduates of the Bachelor’s Degree Program for the fourth period of the 2024/2025 academic year. The event, which took place on Wednesday at 1:00 PM WIB, was held at the MMA Auditorium, Building A10, 2nd Floor, as a gesture of appreciation from the department’s lecturers and staff to the graduating students for their remarkable achievements.
A total of 54 prospective graduates participated in the ceremony, comprising 39 students from the Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Program and 15 from the Agricultural Extension and Communication Program. The event commenced with an opening by the master of ceremonies, followed by the orderly entrance of the graduates. Dr. Jangkung Handoyo Mulyo, M.Ec., Head of the Department, delivered a heartfelt speech filled with advice. He expressed his appreciation for the outstanding accomplishments of the graduates, with 50 earning the cum laude predicate and 4 achieving a very satisfactory predicate. Dr. Jangkung emphasized the importance of upholding the alma mater’s reputation and contributing meaningfully to society and the environment, reflecting the department’s commitment to agricultural socio-economics.
The ceremony continued with a speech by Nazla Amanda Kamila, the graduate with the highest GPA of 3.98 from the Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Program. In her address, Manda expressed gratitude for the opportunity to study in the department and for the enriching experiences shared with her peers. Representing her fellow graduates, she apologized for any intentional or unintentional mistakes made during their academic journey and extended best wishes for her peers’ future endeavors. The event proceeded with the presentation of mementos from the department to all prospective graduates, followed by handshakes with lecturers and staff, and concluded with a group photo session for documentation.
This release ceremony was not only an emotional farewell but also a testament to the Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics’ commitment to fostering sustainable development. The event aligns closely with Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Number 4: Quality Education, as it celebrates academic excellence and equips young leaders with knowledge; SDG Number 2: Zero Hunger, as graduates from agricultural economics and agribusiness contribute to food security through innovative agribusiness practices; and SDG Number 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, as the call to benefit society supports the creation of sustainable job opportunities in agriculture and extension services.
