
Yogyakarta, May 28, 2025 – Pride and joy filled the atmosphere at Universitas Gadjah Mada’s (UGM) Faculty of Agriculture, particularly within the Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics, following the Bachelor’s Graduation Ceremony for Period III of the 2024/2025 Academic Year on Wednesday, May 28, 2025. This sacred procession marked the culmination of the students’ academic journey and their formal inauguration as graduates ready to contribute to society.
The graduation commenced with the core ceremony of diploma conferral at Grha Sabha Pramana (GSP), attended by all UGM graduates. Exclusively for the Faculty of Agriculture, graduates proceeded to a second event at the Harjono Danoesastro Auditorium within the faculty complex for the symbolic presentation of academic transcripts. The presence of family, relatives, and friends filling both venues added to the lively atmosphere, uplifting the spirits of the new graduates.
The Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics held special pride during this graduation period. A cohort of 14 outstanding graduates (1 man and 13 women) from the department officially received their bachelor’s degrees. Remarkably, all graduates earned the Cum Laude (With Honors) distinction, reflecting their high dedication and consistent academic excellence throughout their studies. This brilliant achievement was further elevated by Faathimatuzzahrah, recognized as the Department’s Best Graduate with a remarkable Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.93.
The success of these 14 graduates from UGM’s Agricultural Socio-Economics Department represents a strategic step towards supporting global goals. Their educational journey directly advances SDG 4 (Quality Education) by producing competent graduates in agricultural socio-economics, ready to become agents of development. The outstanding achievement dominated by female graduates (13 out of 14) serves as tangible proof of progress towards SDG 5 (Gender Equality), affirming the crucial role of women in advancing the agricultural sector. Furthermore, their expertise in building sustainable agricultural systems will directly contribute to SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) through strengthening food security.
