The Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics (Sosek), Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada, held a “Workshop on Curriculum Evaluation and Quality Assurance” on October 16–17, 2025, at Hotel Lafayette, Yogyakarta. The event was attended by all lecturers and educational staff of the department as part of a continuous effort to enhance the quality of teaching, strengthen the internal quality assurance system, and develop human resource capacity.

The workshop aimed to comprehensively evaluate the curriculum and learning processes that have been implemented over the past academic year. Through this activity, lecturers discussed and reviewed the relevance of teaching materials, the effectiveness of learning methods, and various challenges encountered during teaching activities. The outcomes of this evaluation are expected to serve as a foundation for curriculum improvement, ensuring that it remains adaptive to the latest developments in science, technology, and the needs of students in the field of agricultural socio-economics.

In addition to curriculum evaluation, the event also featured sessions on academic quality assurance and digital technology training. The department invited two keynote speakers: Dr. Widya Widyastuti, M.Sc., M.Med.Ed., Ph.D., who presented material on the quality assurance system and its implementation within UGM, and Dr. Ronald Adrian, S.T., M.Eng., who conducted a workshop on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for educational staff. This training aimed to improve administrative efficiency and accuracy, supporting the department’s ongoing digital transformation efforts.

Over the two-day event, the activities ran smoothly and productively. The first day focused on curriculum evaluation and faculty discussions, while the second day was dedicated to quality assurance refreshment and hands-on AI training. This consignment workshop served as an important momentum for the Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics UGM to strengthen its commitment to delivering high-quality, adaptive, and sustainable higher education.

This initiative aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), namely:

  • SDG 4: Quality Education, by enhancing the quality of curriculum and learning within higher education.
  • SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, through the adoption of technology such as artificial intelligence to support efficiency and educational innovation.
  • SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, by reinforcing quality assurance systems and promoting transparent, accountable institutional governance.

Through this activity, the Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics UGM reaffirms its commitment to continuous innovation and educational excellence, in line with the Faculty of Agriculture’s vision to produce outstanding human resources contributing to sustainable agricultural development.
