Jogjajanan made a vibrant return in 2025 as one of the most anticipated biennial festivals by students of Universitas Gadjah Mada and the wider Yogyakarta community. Organized by the Student Association of Agricultural Socio-Economics (KMSEP) UGM, Jogjajanan 2025 became a melting pot of art, culture, cuisine, and youth creativity, presented through a series of inspiring and entertaining events. Carrying the theme “Nada Bumi” (The Earth’s Rhythm) and the tagline “Feel the Rhythm, Live the Moment,” the event captivated thousands of visitors with its unique and colorful concept.
The main event took place on May 12, 2025, at Pancasila Field, UGM, starting at 3:00 PM with an enthusiastic crowd flooding the open gate. The festivities opened with a performance by Sosek Supremacy, a student music group from the Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics, followed by an energetic modern dance by Niskala Amerta Sosek. At 6:00 PM, the festival was officially opened by Prof. Dr. Jangkung Handoyo Mulyo, M.Ec., representing the department with an opening speech.
Adding to the excitement, Jogjajanan 2025 featured three renowned Indonesian bands: Olski, Reality Club, and Hivi, who performed from 7:30 PM until 10:30 PM. The evening was further enlivened by two professional MCs, Akhyar and Pandudunia, who kept the audience engaged and energized.
However, Jogjajanan was more than just a music concert. The festival also showcased various interactive zones and attractions such as Podjok Dolanan, a space to rediscover traditional Indonesian games; Art Spot, a creative zone for free expression; and 15 culinary tenants offering delicious Jogja-style dishes. Additionally, booths from the Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness as well as Agricultural Extension and Communication study programs were present, serving as a platform to promote the department’s academic programs to visiting high school students.
The celebration had already begun long before the main event, with pre-event competitions such as a business plan challenge and an Instagram Reels contest held from February 16, 2025. Winners of these competitions were announced during the awarding session on the main night, further boosting enthusiasm among participants and visitors.
Attracting nearly 4,900 visitors, Jogjajanan 2025 stood out as one of the largest and most impactful student-led events, successfully blending education, entertainment, and youth empowerment on a grand scale.
The implementation of Jogjajanan 2025 aligns with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including:
SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth
Jogjajanan provided space for students and local MSMEs to engage in the creative economy through culinary booths and business competitions.
SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities
By highlighting local culture through traditional games and cuisine, the event helped preserve cultural heritage and fostered inclusive, safe, and vibrant public spaces.
SDG 4: Quality Education
Through educational competitions and outreach by academic programs, Jogjajanan played a role in expanding access to higher education information and inspiration among youth.
With its spirit of collaboration and creativity, Jogjajanan 2025 stands as a testament to how student activities can go beyond mere entertainment to deliver meaningful social, economic, and cultural impact.
