
The Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics, Faculty of Agriculture UGM, held a special send-off ceremony for its postgraduate students on Tuesday, April 22, 2025. The event took place at 1:00 PM in the MMA North Wing Classroom, Sosek Building, and was attended by faculty members, administrative staff, and prospective graduates who will soon be officially conferred their degrees by the university.
The ceremony began with the procession of the soon-to-be graduates entering the room, followed by an opening speech from the Head of the Department, Prof. Dr. Jangkung Handoyo Mulyo, S.P., M.Ec. In his address, Prof. Jangkung shared heartfelt advice and encouragement, reminding the graduates to remain humble, uphold integrity, and actively contribute to society and the professional world after leaving UGM.
A speech from the graduates’ representative was delivered by Andhini Siti Fatiha, the department’s best graduate from the Agribusiness Management Master’s Program. She earned a GPA of 3.98 and completed her studies in just 1 year, 11 months, and 18 days. In her remarks, Andhini reflected on her academic journey—filled with both challenges and rewarding experiences. She expressed deep gratitude to all lecturers, administrative staff, and fellow students for their unwavering support and valuable knowledge throughout her studies.
As a symbol of appreciation, the department presented mementos to the graduates, followed by a handshake session with the lecturers. The ceremony concluded with a group photo, capturing the warmth and camaraderie of this meaningful event.
This send-off ceremony aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). First, SDG 4: Quality Education, is reflected in the department’s dedication to delivering high-quality higher education and supporting student success. Second, SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, is demonstrated by the expectation that graduates will contribute to the advancement of agribusiness and economic development. Third, SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, is embodied in the strong collaboration among students, faculty members, and administrative staff that underpinned the graduates’ academic achievements.
Through this ceremony, the Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics not only marks the end of an academic chapter but also reaffirms its commitment to producing outstanding human resources ready to take part in building a better future.
