The Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), proudly celebrates a significant academic milestone. One of its esteemed lecturers, Prof. Dr. Jamhari, S.P., M.P., was officially inaugurated as a Professor in the field of Agricultural Marketing on Tuesday, April 15, 2025. The inauguration ceremony took place solemnly at the UGM Senate Hall from 11:00 to 12:00 WIB.
The event commenced with opening remarks by the Chair of the UGM Board of Professors, followed by the reading of the excerpt from the Decree of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia regarding Prof. Jamhari’s appointment. The highlight of the ceremony was the professor’s inaugural speech, titled “Agricultural Marketing as an Accelerator of Agribusiness Development and Farmers’ Welfare Enhancement.”
In his address, Prof. Jamhari emphasized the vital role of adaptive and integrated agricultural marketing in advancing Indonesia’s agribusiness sector. He highlighted how strategic marketing can enhance market access, increase the competitiveness of agricultural products, and ultimately improve the livelihoods of farmers. These insights are especially relevant amid global changes and the pressing challenges of food security.
The inauguration was attended by several prominent national figures, including Dr. Andriko Noto Susanto, S.P., M.P. (Deputy for Food Consumption Diversification and Food Safety, National Food Agency); Dr. Akhmad Musyafak, S.P., M.P. (Secretary of the Directorate General of Food Crops); and Mr. Mahmudi (President Director of PT Sinergi Gula Nusantara). Their presence underscored the broad recognition of Prof. Jamhari’s scholarly contributions from government, academia, and industry stakeholders alike.
Following the formal ceremony at the Senate Hall, a thanksgiving reception was held at the Harjono Danoesastro Auditorium. The gathering was filled with warmth and camaraderie, as guests—including colleagues, friends, and family—offered their congratulations, shared stories, and captured memorable moments with the newly inaugurated professor.
The inauguration of Prof. Dr. Jamhari, S.P., M.P. marks a renewed commitment to advancing academic excellence in agricultural marketing. His contributions align closely with the pursuit of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly:
SDG 1: No Poverty, through efforts to improve farmers’ livelihoods by strengthening agricultural marketing systems.
