Yogyakarta, 26/03/2025 – Another proud achievement has been made by a student of the Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics, Faculty of Agriculture, UGM. Regina Claudia Setiawan, a student from the Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Study Program, class of 2022, has been awarded the title of Outstanding Student of the Faculty of Agriculture UGM 2025 for her dedication and consistency in academics, research, and community service.

Originally from Surabaya, Regina shared that her biggest motivation in excelling was to make a meaningful impact and make her parents proud. Since the beginning of her studies at UGM, she had set her sights on the Outstanding Student (Mapres) competition as a goal she wanted to achieve. “This competition integrates writing and presentation skills while testing my understanding of the knowledge I have gained and its real-world applications. Additionally, it serves as recognition for my three years of achievements in competitions, community service, publications, and entrepreneurship,” said Regina.

In the selection process for Outstanding Student at the faculty level, Regina had to prepare two main documents: her portfolio of outstanding achievements and a creative idea in the form of a written work, which was later presented before a panel of judges. One of the biggest challenges she faced was balancing her time between the selection process and other commitments, including internships and academic projects. “Time management is crucial, especially when brainstorming ideas and preparing creative proposals, as these require a lot of time and energy,” she added.

One of the most memorable experiences for Regina was participating in a service-learning program in Japan, which was recognized as an international community service initiative, as well as her involvement in an insurance literacy competition since her first year of university. To manage her time effectively, she systematically organized her schedule while ensuring she distributed her energy wisely to complete tasks efficiently.

Regina encourages other students to discover their passion and take full responsibility for what they have started. “Stay consistent in your efforts and never stop praying,” she advised. Moving forward, she plans to focus on completing her academic responsibilities, including writing her thesis, finalizing her internship defense, and making the most of the opportunities entrusted to her.

Regina’s achievements also contribute to several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including:

SDG 4: Quality Education – Her excellence in both academic and non-academic fields demonstrates that quality education can produce competitive and outstanding students.

SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth – Her participation in various competitions and internships reflects student readiness to enter the professional world and contribute to economic growth.

SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals – Her involvement in international community service and academic collaborations highlights the importance of partnerships in achieving global development goals.

Regina Claudia Setiawan’s success proves that students of the Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics, UGM, can excel and make a real impact on society. May her achievements inspire other students to continue striving and making a difference. Congratulations, Regina!
