HR Development Workshop and Outbound: Enhancing Competence and Solidarity Among Faculty and Staff of the Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics, UGM

The Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada, successfully held an HR Development Workshop and Outbound for its faculty and staff on November 29-30, 2024. The event took place at Griya Persada Hotel & Resort, Kaliurang, Sleman, Yogyakarta, under the theme “Communication Strategies for Faculty and Staff in the Digital Era.” It aimed to enhance communication skills and strengthen team synergy within the department.

On the evening of Friday, November 29, 2024, the workshop commenced with a presentation by Mrs. Dian Fithriwati Darusmin, S.Psi., M.A., Psychologist, a lecturer from Ahmad Dahlan University and an Industrial and Organizational Psychologist. During this session, participants gained insights into effective communication methods, especially in interacting with Generation Z students who possess strong digital capabilities. The interactive Q&A session brought engaging discussions and valuable solutions to challenges in digital communication.

The following day, on Saturday, November 30, 2024, the program continued with an outbound session from morning to midday. Guided by a professional team from Griya Persada Hotel & Resort, this activity was designed to foster camaraderie and teamwork through interactive games. The participants’ enthusiasm and energy created an atmosphere filled with joy and laughter.

This program demonstrated the department’s commitment to continuously improving human resource capacity, both in mastering communication skills and fostering internal solidarity. These efforts align with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including:

  1. SDG 4: Quality Education, focusing on enhancing faculty and staff competencies to create a relevant and impactful learning environment in the digital era.
  2. SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, by developing human resource skills that support work effectiveness and productivity.
  3. SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, reflected in the collaboration among faculty, staff, and external partners to successfully execute this event.

This initiative is a testament to how synergy and innovation can elevate the quality of education and foster harmonious professional relationships within the Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics at UGM.
