A historic moment was again among the extended family of the Department of Agricultural Socio-economics, Faculty of Agriculture, Gadjah Mada University (UGM). On August 24, 2023, the UGM Social and Social Affairs Department succeeded in graduating 53 graduates and female graduates from two study programs, namely the Agricultural Extension and Communication Study Program and the Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Study Program. In this enthusiastic moment, 4 graduates of the Department of Agricultural Socio-economics graduated with the title “very satisfactory,” and the remaining 49 received the title “with honors.”
Of course, this graduation procession is not the end of the journey but the beginning of a new chapter in their lives. Previously, the Department of Agricultural Socio-economics also held a graduation ceremony for graduates and postgraduates on Friday, April 18, 2023. In this event, the Chair of the Department of Agricultural Socio-economics, Faculty of Agriculture, UGM, gave a very meaningful message to the graduates.
In his message, the Head of the Department, Mr. Dr. Jangkung Handoyo Mulyo, M.Ec., invited graduates to always dedicate themselves to advancing Indonesian agriculture. He emphasized the importance of their role in facing various challenges in the agricultural sector, including dealing with existing socio-economic problems.
“You are the hope for the future of Indonesian agriculture. With your knowledge and enthusiasm, I am sure you will become agents of change who can overcome various challenges in our agricultural sector,” said the Head of the Department.
The Head of the Department also reminded the graduates and graduate students always to maintain the good name of their alma mater, namely the Faculty of Agriculture, Gadjah Mada University. This good name is a valuable asset that must be well maintained because it will affect the faculty’s image and reputation in the public’s eyes.
The graduation procession, which was attended by graduates and graduates of the UGM Department of Agricultural Socio-economics, was not just an academic celebration but also a momentum to reflect on the greater responsibilities that await them in the future. With the enthusiasm they have shown so far, they are expected to be able to become pioneers of positive change in the Indonesian agricultural sector and make this country more advanced through sustainable agriculture.
